A Message from Our Chair

Hello, everyone! On behalf of the Zenkaikon staff, I wanted to share some thoughts on our upcoming convention.

In 2011, we talked about how "good things come to those who wait" in terms of finding a new convention space to fit our growth. The Valley Forge Convention Center provided a space for us all to have a great time. You may heard that the VFCC was closing its doors in 2012 due to construction, meaning we had to find a new home for our event. Over several months we reached out to many venues in the area, looking for a space that could accommodate all the attendees who have shared Zenkaikon with us over the years. While the setup of the space and proximity of the event means Zenkaikon will be two days this year, we're already in negotiations with a venue for a full 3-day event in 2013! (We'll be sharing more details on this as soon as we can.)

At the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks we have 98,000 square feet of space, and the center's large halls are perfect for providing a new festival-style atmosphere for our 2012 event. While it may have a different feel than previous years, we're working hard to utilize the space to its fullest and provide many of the events our members have come to enjoy at Zenkaikon (panels, screenings, musical performances, dances, special guests, gaming, vendors, and more). Who knows, we may even have a few new surprises in store!

Please don't forget to keep an eye on our website, as we will have plenty of upcoming announcements regarding guests, events, registration, hotels, and much more over the coming months.

Thanks again for all your support, and I'll see you at the con!
