General Information: SEPTA Strike Contingency Travel Arrangements

The SEPTA Transit Workers Union is currently on strike. At this point, no one is certain how long the strike will last, although there is strong hope that it will be resolved quickly. Nevertheless, in the event that the strike does last through the weekend, there are still several viable transportation options to the Radisson that will not be affected by the strike.

What Services Will Not Be Affected by the Strike?

  • SEPTA's Regional Rail Service
  • Victory Division buses, the Route 101 & 102 Trolley Lines, and the Norristown High Speedline, with modifications for buses into Philadelphia
  • LUCY service (Green and Gold), with regular routing from 30th Street Station to select University City destinations
  • Paratransit CCT Connect service for registered ADA and Shared Ride customers

NJ Transit service (buses and trains in New Jersey and Philadelphia) and the PATCO high speed line (from Lindenwold, New Jersey to Center City, Philadelphia) will also not be affected.

What Services Will Be Affected by the Strike?

  • Broad Street Subway Line and Broad-Ridge Spur
  • Market-Frankford "El" Line
  • All City Transit bus, trolley and trackless trolley routes
  • Frontier Division bus routes

How Would I Get to Zenkaikon During a Strike?

Below are three very viable options.

Option 1: The R6 Norristown Regional Rail line stops at the Norristown Transportation Center, as well as 11th & Market Sts (Market East Station), 16th & Market Sts (Suburban Station), and 30th Street (Amtrak) Station in Center City. The Norristown Transportation Center is only 4.5 miles from the Radisson Hotel (See Map). Across the street from the Center is a taxi stand where you should be able to hire a taxi to take you to the convention.

Option 2: Bus route 125 to the Radisson will continue to run, but will be beginning its route at Villanova Station. It will not be stopping in Center City or Wissahickon Transportation Center during the strike. The R5 Paoli/Thorndale train stops at Villanova Station, in addition to 11th & Market Sts (Market East Station), 16th & Market Sts (Suburban Station), and 30th Street (Amtrak) Station.

Option 3: We have confirmed that Tropiano Transportation provides shuttle service between Philadelphia International Airport, 30th Street (Amtrak) Station, and the Radisson. The cost is a flat rate of $29 per person. Reservations are required in advance. Their phone number is 215-616-5370.

How Do I Get Into Center City?

As mentioned above, all SEPTA Regional Rail lines will continue to run. SEPTA's Regional Rail provides transportation to and from Center City to a number of destinations (See Map).

The PATCO high speed line from New Jersey also makes several stops in Center City Philadelphia.

The New Jersey Transit Atlantic City train line, which makes multiple stops in New Jersey (including Cherry Hill and Lindenwold) stops at 30th Street (Amtrak) Station in Center City Philadelphia. In addition, multiple New Jersey Transit bus routes provide service into Center City Philadelphia. These include the 313, 315, 317, 400, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 408, 409, 410, 412, 551 (View Bus Schedules).

How Do I Get to the Norristown Transportation Center?

Once in Center City, you can take the R6 Norristown Regional Rail line to Norristown Transportation Center.

You can also take SEPTA Trolley Lines 101 or 102 to 69th Street Terminal, and catch the Norristown High Speedline to the Transportation Center. SEPTA buses numbered 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, and 113 will also continue to travel to 69th Street Terminal, although some will have a slightly modified route (View this page for more information on route changes).
