Next Year's cosplay list

Postby chiikenshin » Sat Oct 20, 2007 3:15 pm

So what do you plan on cosplaying as next year?

My current list to decide from is:

1. Kanda - D Gray-man season 3 lvl 2 innocence version or Lavi
2. Zetsubo "Pink Supervisor" sensei - Sayonara Zetsubo sensei
3. Zero - Code Geass
4. Hayate - Hayate no Gotoku
5. Yang Wenli - Legend of Galactic Heroes
6. Chrono - Mahou Shoujo Nanoha StrikerS
7. Makoto - School Days
8. Madarame - Genshiken - umm....not really, this one is just for laughs if I feel ultra lazy.

I'm most likely only going to choose 1 or 2 of the above, 3 if I decide to include the ultra lazy #8
First you must decide.
Then you must follow through with it.

So far, the only projects on the books for next year is to complete Cloud's Tsurugi sword, and the get sephiroth off the ground. A friend is making the Masamune katana. So i'll have Cloud Strife and Sephiroth by the end of next year.

What Materials/Techniques will you be useing to make the swords? Trying to find a better method of acquiring cosplay props.

Plywood and foam/foamboard are the base components. A 2x4 will form the base framework, and then some additional plywood will make the guard. The project is actually a bit ambitious, as the removable blades require a custom designed interlock system to prevent them from falling off. I've got several ideas on the drawing board. The project is in mock-up phase, as it's easier to make size adjustments and see how big the thing is when you can see it in real scale. Cardboard is cheap (as in free or nearly free.) When it's done, you will see it at Zenkaikon 08. :)

Kewl, Can't wait to see how it all turns out in '08. Hmmm.....if this works out, I wonder if a fully functional metal version is also possible?

There's a 4-bladed steel replica ofthe Tsurugi sword - which i have. There's a hardwood version of the 6-bladed Tsurugi sword available on e-bay for like $1300 dollars. I want it, but then i thought, i could probably build my own for far less than that. The only problem is that my version of 6-bladed tsurugi sword exceeds the 5-foot limit on props adopted at zenkaikon, so i don't know if i'll be able to bring it along. That is unless they change the prop rules to allow for 6 foot long props. But i could take it apart and get it down to 5 and half feet. :P

well it all depends if i can get my friend to be either orochimaru or itachi then i'll be sasuke but if he fights for the the sasuke cosplay then i guess i'll be orochimaru or itachi. And if that doesn't work out i think i might be Haruhi again because that was fun ^^

Maybe we can petition to raise the limit or at least get special permission based on the sheer awesomeness factor of a fully functional Death St....err.....I mean a full 6-bladed Tsurugi sword

Would that be be before or after the time jump?

The last Ouran Gathering was alot of fun. It would be great to do that again, maybe even expand on the origional concept to maybe even a skit if we can get a full cast.

Hmm for next year.. I might decide to do:

Sumomo from Chobits
Sasami from Tenchi Muyo
Tetris Block
Or a small chibi version of Chun Li

But probably Sasami... Not sure yet... xD

Hn... I really have no idea, come to think of it. I've made a plan to get one cosplay per year (Easy Orginazation <3) and focus around that. I've got a list of options though.

Time-Skip Ino Yamanaka ( Naruto )
Asuka Tenjoin ( Yugioh GX )
Mitsuki Hayase ( Rumbling Hearts )
Renge Houshakuji /or/ Tamaki Suou ( Ouran High School Host Club )
Anyone from PoT ( Prince of Tennis )
Quistis Trepe ( Final Fantasy 8 )

And there were a few more I was debating, that I'm currently drawing a blank on, so I'll add them if I remember. Basically this is my major list to choose from though, that I'd enjoy cosplaying.
