What yaoi are you talking about? XD

It was playing in one of the video rooms at like 11 on saturday night...Umm...Embracing Love? I think that's what it was called. It was crazy funny and has spawned an inside joke with my friends. "O hai! I moved in. Your landlord gave me the key."

You were at the yaoi panel? So was I! ^.^

Surprisingly, the Game room was the coolest room in the entire building. Epic win for that. Last year, it wasn't so cool in there. Oshi must've entered a secret code to kick up the AC level. Rofl! XD

Crowds aside, the scanticon isn't all that conducive to hosting a large event like Zenkaikon. It's a known fact that Registration was indeed closed, at around 2 pm or so due to capacity limitations. Zenkaikon was not expecting that problem this year. But i guess it's a "good" probem in a way. Word has it the con is going to try and move to the larger Raddison side next year. Given the attendance this year, i think that might happen. They need more space that's for sure!

I would HOPE you were at the yaoi panel, since you were at the sexy party before it and we all went together. xD

I also had a good time, thou I think the place was too small and HOT!! The artist alley was hard to get thought, the pillors where hard to get around with people blocking the hallway! My panel (The Hellsing fan panel) came off pretty good! But they didn't have speakers form my computer, I kinda need them for my panel, oh well! This was my 4th con ever and my 1st hosting a panel! I will be there next year!!

Glad you liked Embracing Love. Almost as soon as I landed in the video programming position I planned to add a yaoi title. I'm a big fan of the genre myself, and wanted to put my personal touch on the programming list.

I had hoped to get permission for Kizuna, as that is one of my favorite titles, but couldn't get a response from the distributor. Though I squealed like a fangirl (not something I do often) when I did get permission for Embracing Love. Kudos to Media Blasters/Kitty Media for being such a cool, and easy, company to deal with.

Hopefully this year will be the start of a regular yaoi showing; and if I end up doing the video room programming next year, you can pretty much bet on it.

we had always planned on moving the con to a bigger area but thanks to the record attendee numbers this year its definitely what we're trying to do for 09 now.

No, definitely not the PA convention center. The only places we would be moving it would either be right next door to the Radisson convention space or downstairs to the Valley Forge Convention Center.

Our suburban location is better for small, growing cons like Zenkaikon. It's less expensive than the PA convention center, and the Scanticon/VFCC complex has an easier time accomodating our needs.

Well, looking several years down the road, does anyone think we'd have the size and caliber to hit the PACC? I wouldn't be surprised. We need a larger con in the philly area. But i do know we would have some stiff competition from Otakon, so maybe we wouldn't be a huge con like them. But maybe an intermediate sized event, say 6,000 to 8,000. Again, this is 7-10 years down the road.

I think the Radisson would be a great idea. Just as easy to get to, just more space. You definitly need more space. The Alley looked really cramped. Hopefully the attendence will continue to go up.

Guys. No.

No PACC. Probably not ever.

When OTAKON goes looking for bigger space and says "No" to moving to the PACC, you know it's not a good fit for this kind of convention.

Its not really a question of size and caliber. Its more a question of logistics and money. There's several reasons why the PACC isnt an optimal place to have a con. Otakon skipped out on using it many years ago for many reasons.

And exactly how would we be competing with Otakon? The two cons are in distinctly seperate months and in places that are several hours apart 0-0?
