2008 Zenkaikon -- How was your time?

Postby Outlawstar98 » Sat Oct 18, 2008 10:02 pm

Just a question, How was your Zenkaikon this year?

What did you like from this year, compared to last years?

And did you not like from this year, compared to last years?

I loved the amount of people this year UI also loved the panels and video gaming :3

I DIDN"T like the gun rules, Small space, Random fangirl squealing and low variety in the dealers room.

I thought it was fun. It was much better organized than Tandokucon but I think Tandokucon was of better quality. And I agree, the squealing was...quite annoying.

XD However I'll let that pass based on the one girl dressed as Kairi who squealed over my cosplay. :c She was the only one who found and recognized me without prompting.

I had a good time, and I was surprised at the amount of people who knew me from the forums. I thought only Lingering Tears would be able to recognize me since we talked a bunch on AIM before the con.

Oh yeah, my whole bleach vs naruto thing backfired. After like all the shinigami left, L and Naruto killed me like 20 times, eventually brinigng Hinata, like 3 more L's and Hokage-Chan in to help kill me...again. And Aizen sat there with a smile on his face watching the main hero of Bleach get killed...Good times>_>

Also, thanks to zenkaikon, I got back into Bleach: Shattered Blade. The only problem I have is finding people who would actually play it with me, lol.

Oh, and the fan girl squealing...Yeah I heard that a lot, but I had some Ichigo fan girls, so it evened out. :P

I had an amazing time this year. Made a good amount of money at my artist table. Talked to a lot of people. Made new friends, hung out with old friends, and all around had a wonderful time! To much to really put down in one post.

I had a great time. I posted a short review on my blog

http://thefanboyreview.wordpress.com/2008/10/19/zenkaikon-08/

and Geekadelphia has alos posted items and video from the con

http://geekadelphia.com/

I have to say I always enjoy this con. I was in a foul mood due to the fact I wrecked my car the day before, but I had a good time.

I thought it was uber fun. I'm really thinking that it was better than last year, and the amount of people wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Most certainly ah-mazing. I really loved the belly dancing, that was probably the best experience that and the yaoi * fan girl-ism *

To start off, i think the con was exceptional this year. There were very few issues at the event this year. Staff was friendly, helpful and events seem coordinated as planned. Behavoior seemed on par, though the few incidents i did see that caused an issue were dealt with quickly and professionally. Line control seemed ok, but i think there was a slight glitch during saturday's LineCon where pre-regged attendees weren't informed of the different line for the pre-registrations. I myself experience no problems or issues. Layout of the hallways was pretty good, and despite the seemingly cramped hallways, there was always a path to get through. The only exception was the artist alley, but that is almost something that can't be helped. If the pillars weren't in the middle of that hallway, it would be an even more ideal location. I know that traffic did get quite congested in that area during the mid afternoon hours on saturday. I also know the main back hallway (from the artist alley past con ops and back to the main con area) was congested because people tended to congregate down that long hallway in groups here and there. Not entirely a huge problem, but when it did get congested, staff opened up the hallways again for traffic flow. Of course schedule hiccups occur, and friday was no exception. But even despite the late start of some events, things still seemed to go smoothly. The Rave was a little disappointing, though. Some of the music wasn't "quite right" for raving, but that's more subjective on an individual level, so while in my personal opinion, the music wasn't always rave-worthy, there are some that say the music was perfectly fine. Which is ok. ^.^ I do know it would have been more enjoyable if the room was a lot darker (the lights that were on kind of killed the effect of having glowsticks).

I think the staff and gophers did an awesome job. Especially since the con was forced to close registration temporarily due to capacity limitations. Never thought Zenkaikon would have that problem this year. But i guess it's a problem that the con won't mind having (to a point). It would be interesting to learn what the official attendance numbers are. I know at least 750 badges were printed, and i know we ran out of those. ^.^ Looking forward to next year for sure.

When does that pre-reg list open for next year? ^.^ rofl! Very Happy

Epic awesome fun tiemz. I got to meet pplz I met online, made tons of new buddies and went to a super epic win dinner and watched some yaoi and had some LULZ with other people. As one of the screaming fangirls, I'd like to say, you'd find that at any anime con, sooo .. deal with it? :)

Fan girl screaming is worse at this con because it's smaller so it's easier to hear:P
