So, What games will be in this years game room?

Postby Azirphaeli the Oracle » Sat Jul 14, 2007 10:40 am

Cause I have no idea, what systems/games will there be?

Also, I think suggestions for systems/games would be a good idea as well.

From the sounds of things so far...I believe we are going to have a bit of everything. It should be a lot of fun.

That would be cool to have the 4th Naruto game. I just got the 3rd game two days ago and it okay for a fighting game. I also like it because it have japanese and English voices you can choose between.

I can pretty much tell you that Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii), Rockband (any system), and Guitar Hero (any system) will still be fairly popular games, so it may be worth considering adding those games. Some older classics might include Guilty Gear. A change of genre could be racing games, head-to-head arcade/action games such as Puzzle Fighter, or a couple of single games like Castlevania or Gradius. Dance games like DDR or Stepmania are also very popular at this time. I've seen a wide variety of appealing games out there in various settings, so expanding your offerings is always a good thing. Popular games are always a safe bet, though. One thing way to keep tabs on popular games is by visiting game stores, either at the malls or at the individual store locations. Gamestop has tons of stores around the area, so finding one can't be too hard. While demographics vary from region to region, you can get a general idea of what the hottest games are, so that gives you ideas on what game to include in your game rooms. I keep tabs on the hottest games by visiting Gamestop at the mall at least once a month and just talking to everyone, including the employees. It seems somewhat weird doing this, but trust me, making friends with Gamestop employees is your ticket to the hottest game info, and even a couple extra deals here and there. :)

Not to mention, we are working out the details of a very special Sponsor for our games room this year so stay tuned! :D

If MGO has a splitscreen LAN option, do you think we could set up two tv's to do 4 on 4 battles? If not, can we get Call of Duty 4?

Deals, sure -- one of my cosplay friends scored his Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD without preordering because he's friendly with a gamestop employee.

Info, not so much; I find that I usually "scoop" my local gamestop's employees when I come looking for something, and all I ever do is read Kotaku.
example:
me: Hey, can I preorder MGS4 today, and um, do you have the Beta codes already?
employee: what?
me: yeah, I just read that konami is giving everyone who preorders mgs4 a way to get in the Beta test for Metal Gear Online
employee: Um...uh...all I know is that MGO and MGS4 ship as one thing. Come back in June.
me: ...thanks.

Thats when you get up on their case, be like:

"Listen, I know you were sent at least twenty DVDs for reserve, and I would like to get one of the preorder bonuses like It was said I would get. Limited my ****, give me something, or I am talking to your DM." End of discussion, he would either say shoot, we still don't have them and have to give you the District Manager's number, or he would dig one out or call another gamestop and get one for you. You would just have to go to said gamestop. You are talking to a three year employee, and I some times just damn well forget. Meanwhile, other things, they only send you a few of, like every five reserves, oh, here is one of those items. These Metal Gear codes however, each store received around ten of them.
I am really bad at spelling... no really.

Check out where I work, if you like video games that is...

Yeah, i mean, i just kept calling back to check on the status and eventually they got it in. It's just that the general consensus seems to be that GS employees aren't quite as informed as people might expect them to be.

Yo guys, got a thread in '2008 Suggestions' for gaming requests, so feel free to post in there.

And we have two excellent sponsors which I will be announcing officially next week.

Naruto GNT4: Confirmed to return, unless I get the newer Wii one ;D
