1st time going toZenkaikon Convention!

Advice? Hmmmmm.... I have enough of that to fill an entire forum. ^.^

Zenkaikon is a very good event to start out your foray into anime conventions. The basic things to know:

1. Be responsible to yourself. Eat, drink and stay clean. Don't skip eating, and definitely don't skip drinking. Eat nutritious meals when you can. Energy drinks and pocky (or ramune and pocky) won't cut it. Bring snack bars in a bag or pocket for pick-me-ups when you start getting hungry. Don't forget to bathe or shower. Sadly, this reminder is usually needing to be mentioned. O_O

2. Be sure you're prepared by reading and understanding all the conventions policies and rules. www.zenkaikon.com has all the information and details.

3. Be polite and courteous. Glomping (tackle hugging) is strongly discouraged, but you may ask for hugs and such before hand. The same applies generally for photos, though it is common to see people taking ninja photos. If you really like a costume and want a picture, ask the cosplayer and generally they will be happy to stop for a quick photo.

4. Plan your day. The schedule and map are up at the website. Have a look at both. You wont be able to do everything. Trust me on this. Find a few events that you do like and plan on attending those events. Realize that con schedules can change at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. Be sure to get the latest information from the schedule boards outside each event room or ask a staff member for help if you're unsure about the time for an event.

5. Have a line of communication if you're with a group. At the least, plan a meeting spot and time if needed. Cell phones are a life saver at a con, but Zenkiakon is small enough that a 20 minute walk can lap you around the entire venue space. Either way, it's still a good idea to arrange a meeting spot and time once in awhile, as phone tag can get annoying and frustrating in the long run.

This is my 6th year of conventions but this is my first time going to Zenkaikon!! I'm MAD excited, my con senses have been tingling for a couple months lol! Im ready for some fun!! I'm doing a couple photo shoots for people which I COULD NOT be more excited about! I wish they would release the schedule already!
Btw, those con rules are EPIC and so true!! Make sure to read them over! If you or any newbie needs help come and find a staffer or me! Neither will bite! Well...I might, but a staffer wont

2. Prioatize. You can't do everything, so figure out what you really want to do. Check the on line schedule when it is available.
3 Stay hydrated.
4. Shower.
