I was in the cosplay dating game. It was a lot of fun, especially when Orochimaru kept pushing the limits of what is considered "wholesome....err...family....err...something something"... anyhow, we definately need a yuri/yaoi version for next year.

Btw has anybody brought out the ideal for cosplay chess yet?

Based on personal experience seeing cosplay chess in action and the feedback of other people from their's. It can only be done in a room with alot of space or outdoors just for the playing area alone. Ideal conditions would be with a stage, two elevated cameras to film either side of the board, and cameras at ground level for side views and an overhead projector. (the ideal conditions are probably a long shot at best.)

Recruiting chess pieces is no different from how it was done for the cosplay dating game. Theming it and deciding who should be what piece should be easy. I'm partial towards 'shoujo vs shounen' theme.

Oh and 2 balanced chess players so that the game won't be over too quickly. Lelouch vs Goku in a battle of wits is most likely not balanced. But a Lelouch vs Light or L would be whoa!

From what i know about cosplay chess: You need 32 "pieces" which translates to large space needed. Judging by the sizes of the rooms available now, cosplay chess seems a little out of reach until the con reaches a point where it's feasible to use larger rooms at the Scanticon. Most cosplay chess matches are themed, like anime VS video games or Naruto VS Bleach, etc. Cosplay chess works very well at the larger conventions (as there's no shortage of "pieces" or room). Smaller cons like Z-kon may fnd it a daunting challenge until they can find enough space to execute the idea. I'm sure Z-kon could easily find enough "pieces", it's just finding a "chess board" to put them on that's a problem.

I'm sure it's something the Z-con staff will look into for next year or upoming years. It's best to move any more discussion of coslay chess to the 2008 suggetions thread so we don't hijack this one.
