Project Linus' Make a Blanket Day - Feb 20, 2010

Postby gamergirlx » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:33 pm

I know many cosplayers do have a lot of extra fabric scraps and can sew blankets or like to be crafty and if you're looking for a way of clearing out those fabric bins...

February 20th, 2010 is Project Linus' "Make a Blanket Day".

Project Linus is a national volunteer organization that has provided traumatized and seriously ill children
with handmade security blankets and quilts.

Many local chapters hold their own events. I know in South Jersey, Kennedy Health Center in Voorhees is having special activities that morning. Click for more info

A listing of chapters that maybe closer to you may be found here. Contact your local chapter to donate or to help out.

These are only estimates since different Chapters do allow different sizes and have different rules for their blankets. Such as no fringe on blankets or buttons.
Here are the size guidelines. (Please remember these are approximate.) Kids come in different sizes, so
do your blankets! There is a need for boy colors and teen sizes.
  • Preemie 18” x 24” to 24” x 30”
  • Infant 25” x 35”
  • Toddler 35” x 45”
  • Child 40” x 60”
  • Teen 40” x 72”
  • Camp Erin Bereavement Camp for Ages 6 – 17 50” x 70”
  • Shriners Hospital for Children 35” x 50”
