Zenkaikon 2009 Rave
We are pleased to announce that we will be having at least one rave (informal dance) at Zenkaikon 2009. What kind of music will be featured, you ask? In general, the best J-Pop and anime remix tracks, soundtracks, trance, techno, and more!
About Hi5 (Zenkaikon Rave DJ)
Hi5 has been a DJ for over four years. Although he first took the stage as a convention DJ at Otakon 2008, he has been an anime and video game enthusiast since middle school. This Baltimore native got into electronic dance music while playing DDR in 8th grade. He also enjoys making his own music, following in the footsteps of dance music pioneers BT, Deadmau5, and Armin van Buuren. In a Hi5 DJ set you will hear everything from electro/progressive house and trance, to remixes
of your favorite anime, video game and DDR music. With Hi5 at the helm, you will surely be dancing and singing along. He is excited to be a DJ for the Zenkaikon rave on Saturday, November 7, 2009. You can visit him at http://www.myspace.com/hi5md/
Zenkaikon 2009 Cosplay Ball
The Zenkaikon Ball is a costume and formal dance event. The program will feature dances originating in England, Scotland, eastern Canada and the USA.
No prior dance experience is necessary! People with two left feet are also welcome! We're delighted that you're joining in the fun.
Rules and Guidelines
- All participants must be in costume or formal attire.
- You will not need to bring a partner as we will be changing partners throughout the event.
- Costumes must meet the general costuming and weapons and props policies in addition to the following:
- You must be able to move freely.
- Your hands must be free so that you can take the hands of others.
- Your costume must not interfere with or pose a danger to others (i.e., most wings are prohibited).
- "Formal attire" is defined as what one would wear to a wedding or prom.
- Although we appreciate casualness and creativity, wear something nicer than jeans and a T-shirt or club wear.
- We encourage period and regional clothing such as the Regency period and the kilt respectively.
- Kimono are also appropriate, but be sure that you can take the hands of others and move briskly without tripping.
- Make sure you can move easily in your fancy dress, and won't get too hot!
- You must be able to dance in your footwear for everyone's safety and your comfort. Please wear flat shoes. Smooth soles with a bit of a grip work best.
- During admittance, priority will be given to those who:
- Adhere to the above guidelines.
- Arrive first.
