GENERAL AMV CONTEST PARTICIPATION INFORMATION

This year, we will divide AMVs into Competing Videos and non-Competing videos. Only Competing Videos will be shown in the Zenkaikon AMV Contest, and only those videos will be eligible for prizes. Not all AMVs submitted to the contest will be shown during the contest. Submitted AMVs will be rated and categorized into genres during a closed screening by pre-selected judges. The highest rated videos for each genre will be shown during the Zenkaikon AMV Contest. You may submit videos that have competed in other contests, but they will be placed in the non-competing, General AMV Screening. All non-Competing videos will be shown during the General Screening, along with any AMVs submitted to the contest, but did not make it to the contest.

You may only submit an AMV of your own creation. You may only submit an AMV that has NOT participated in any AMV Contests. You may submit videos that have been submitted to other conventions and/or shown during general screenings. We will be accepting up to two (2) AMV submissions per individual or collective group of editors. AMVs submissions may NOT be slightly different versions from one another using the same song. Only one (1) of two (2) videos submitted by an individual or collective group of editors will be shown during the AMV Contest.

All AMV submissions will be pre-screened for content and audio/video quality. Follow a general PG-13 content guideline for audio/video content. Video containing any sort of logos, watermarks, fan-sub subtitles, corporate subtitles, or any other graphic or lettering not specifically of your own creation will be disqualified. Audio containing any U.S. commercially produced dubbed voice-overs will be disqualified.

VIDEO/AUDIO INFORMATION

The duration of all AMVs must be between 30 seconds and 360 seconds long. Please start your video with one (1) second of silent black leader and end with one (1) second of black footer. No NOT include any other bumper or credits of any kind. A standard title screen will be placed at the beginning and end of every AMV during the screening.

We are only accepting digital formats. All videos will be converted to MPEG-2 files, scaled to 720x480 resolution, and converted to frame rate 29.97 fps NTSC "drop frame" for playback on a DVD. If your video is NOT submitted in this format, the quality of your video will most likely degrade when converted.

If you cannot send an MPEG-2, please send Uncompressed, HuffYUV, or Lagarith encoded .avi's. Please do NOT send Quick Time, Real Media, WMV, or similar formats. If there are technical flaws with your video file, or if we simply cannot play your video, you may be contacted before Zenkaikon to re-submit in a different format if there is sufficient time before the deadline.
